Principal Component Analysis: Should I use the extracted scores for each component or calculate my own (find average value for the items in the components)

Hi there!

I would like to know in which cases one should use the extracted scores for each compenent that the software provides and when one should calculate the scores manually instead (e.g. finding the average value of three items belonging to one component)

I want to use the variables in a multiple regression.

Thanks!

This sounds like less of a principle components question and more like how to set up a Partial Least Squares model.

Would you mind explaining your question a little more?
