The JMP documentation states that when MATCH is chosen in the Formula Editor, you should get some kind of pop-up list that asks if you want to add the arguments from the data (see below). This would save me some time but unfortunately I don't see any list when I choose MATCH. Was this feature removed? Am I doing something wrong? Is this a computer specific feature (I'm using a Mac)?
Minor issue but just wondering.
First add your column
Then find match and click on it once and select
And you should get
(Win10, JMP18.0.1)
As @jthi said, you need to put your variable "Type" into the formula first, THEN select the MATCH function. Notice in Jeff's video that he has the variable entered into the formula before choosing MATCH.

Yeah... That's not happening for me. This must not work on the Mac.
I don't have Mac so I cannot test it but at least it isn't documented that it wouldn't work https://www.jmp.com/support/help/en/18.0/index.shtml#page/jmp/use-the-match-conditional-function-in-.... I think quite a few JMP staff members are using Mac so maybe they know better @Jeff_Perkinson
It does work on the Mac. What version of JMP are you using?
Can you show screen grabs of what is happening for you?
See attached video. I am using JMP 18.0.1 and using macOS Sonoma 14.5
Just trying it as a GIF.
You don't have the type column added to the formula editor. You have to have it added before you click on Match

Arrgh. I missed that. Sorry about that.
Thanks. I've got it now.
