Interval Explorer for Two Independent Sample Proportions

I want to calculate sample size to compare failure rates between two groups.

I expect that group 1 has a failure rate of around 1%, and group 2 something similar or hopefully lower.

I have turned to the JMP platform Interval Explorer for Two Independent Sample Proportions, and filled:

Group 1 proportion = 0.01

Group 2 proportion = 0.01

but I am unsure with what to fill Margin of Error. Is this the desired confidence interval around the group proportions?

Re: Interval Explorer for Two Independent Sample Proportions

Hello, and welcome. Yes, it is the desired confidence interval.  See the help file here for how the margin of error is calculated. It is defined therein as the " the half-width of a two-sided interval or the width of a one-sided interval. "
