Custom Shape Graph

I have a series of instruments that have been tested on a board. I want to be able to generate a graph where the output of each instrument is shown with its instrument id on a diagram of the board in its test position

Depending on your data using Heatmap might be enough. If that won't work you could try creating Custom Map Files (jmp.com) .
