Calculating Standard Deviation

Hi all.

I have a question about JMP and calculating standard deviation.

From my understanding about statistics, there are different formulas to calculate stand deviation for different types of distribution (normal or gamma for example).  When I am use JMP to calculate standard deviation, does it always assume that my data has a normal distribution?

Re: Calculating Standard Deviation

Yes, unless you specify a distribution model.

When I have specific distribution model for a column, I save that as a column property.
