Bar Graph with brackets

Hello everyone, I need some help with bar chart in JMP. I guess there is a two part for this question:

1. I have the following dataset in a long format :

Value: Column number

2                1
3                1
4                1
5               1
7              1
8              1
9              2
10           2
11           2
12            2

I used the Graph Builder to do the following graph: Bar Graph 1.jpg

I would like to add brackets between graph with the significance stars that indicates whether there is a significant difference between the means of the two groups. Could you help me do that?

2. My second question would be, is there a way I can produce this graph from having a wide format?

For example: if my data looked like this:

Colum1: Column 2

2              8
3              9
4                10
5                11
7               12

Thank you, I appreciate all the help.

Re: Bar Graph with brackets

Part 1:

I will provide the same solution I did last time "This blog post might be able to get you started Using JMP to create SuperPlots".

Using annotate tools

Part 2:

Using tall format data is much easier for this type of plot. You can do something like this by adding extra column for x-axis and then using multiple plots and disabling variables

Re: Bar Graph with brackets

Thank you for your help, can you give more information on how you reached your graph in the long format?

I was only able to reach the following:

Thank you!

Re: Bar Graph with brackets

  1. Add new column with just single value. I used numeric nominal column with all values of 1 (you could also use transform column for this if you don't want to have it in your table)
  2. Add two SEPARATE x-axis both using this new column
  3. Add both columns to Y-axis
  4. Add bar charts and points to your plot
  5. From the left side disable Variables from other y-axis so on one plot you show only Column 1 and on the other Column 2

Two separate X-axis

Column 2 disabled from the "left plot"
