Assign different styles in two variables on the same Y-axis

Hi all,

I am trying to plot two variables (a and b) on the same Y axis using JMP 19. I want one to be a line and the other to be a bar. I found this impossible to do with the same Y-axis. I have to make either a top y-axis or a left y-axis. Is this impossible in JMP?

Thank you, Valeria

How does your data look like? What is variable: different columns or grouping column with different values?

If you drag both columns to the Y axis, you can add the line and bar, and then specify which columns(variables) that the line and bar should be displayed for each

Here is an example using the Big Class data table where height is displayed as a line value and weight as a bar

I only want to add a minor addition since you use JMP 19 already. With JMP 19 there was functionality added to have multiple y-axis.

Just define both graphs on top of each other by drag and dropping them like this and select parallel y-axis in the red triangle drop down menu:

You will get a plot with two separate y-axis:
