Anyone ever connect JMP (Mac OS X) through ODBC to a MySQL DB server on Mac OS X?

I am trying to connect JMP to local MySQL DB server I have on my Mac. I have tried to use ODBC Administrator but upon connecting I get an error message.
I've done it before, but it's been a few years. Is your client also on Mac OS X? If you you'll need drivers from a third party like http://www.openlinksw.com/ or http://www.actualtech.com/ since the DB vendors don't supply Mac drivers. Otherwise, it's hard to guess the problem.
