Moving from SPSS to JMP®: A Transition Guide

Moving from SPSS to JMP®: A Transition Guide

Dr. Jason Brinkley, East Carolina University

There can be vast differences in the way analytic software handle the processing, analysis, and output of data. Once users become comfortable with a program it can be difficult to make transitions, either to another program or to more recent version of the same program. This can especially be true for new JMP® users who learned SPSS either at another company or as a student. New users transitioning from SPSS may be used to the SPSS archetype; users select what analysis and options they want to see and the program creates the corresponding SPSS code and output. By contrast, JMP® dynamically links the data and the output and is designed for users to start down a general path and add-in options and output as they explore the data
