Collaborating and Sharing Results Using JMP Live

JMP Live is a web-based platform.  It is licensed separately to sites who use JMP or JMP Pro so users can collaborate at work, share reports with people in different work groups, and update and maintain reports for current data - all within a secure environment.

Users can see and drill into reports that they have permission to access. JMP Live provides options to get alerts when someone updates or posts a comment to a report, or if an automatically-updated control chart spots an out-of-control condition.

JMP Live is the technology behind JMP Public (public.jmp.com). So, you can go there to JMP Public to see how JMP Live works. Register for a free account if you want to post to JMP Public.

NOTE:  JMP Live 17 works with JMP and JMP Pro 17.  JMP 16 works with JMP and JMP Pro 16.

Questions answered during the live webinar by Jerry @JerryFish and JMP Developers Aurora Tiffany Davis @Aurora_TiffanyD and Eric Hill @Eric_Hill.

Q: Is publishing in JMP Live staying locally within the company or does it reside in JMP cloud environment?

A: You have a choice.  Some JMP Live customers install JMP Live on their own servers, behind their firewall.  There is also an option to have JMP host your instance of JMP Live. With this option, your instance lives in AWS and is networked such that only people from your company can get to it, so it functions as a "private cloud".

Q: Is data refresh available in JMP Live 16?

A: No, data refresh was introduced in JMP Live 17.

Q: Can you publish a dashboard to JMP Live to report salient points to your Manager or PM?

A: Yes.  If you have a dashboard report in JMP, you can publish that to JMP Live.

Q: Can the update scripts contain complex instructions to modify the table like, for example, creating new columns or joining info from different tables?

A: Absolutely, yes. The update (a.k.a. "refresh") script is any valid JSL that spits out a data table at the end. You can capture all kinds of things in that JSL script.

Q: Who has access to JMP Live reports?

A: Those in an organization who need to view/interact with JMP Live reports need a JMP Live license. Those who are ONLY publishing to JMP Live will need a JMP Live license, just a JMP Or JMP Pro license.

Q: Will you show how someone who is not the author would add a comment?

A: Sure.  Anyone adds a comment the same way.  See below.
