Basics for Interactively Building Graphs to Explore, Find & Report Results

Published on ‎08-25-2025 03:12 PM by Community Manager Community Manager | Updated on ‎08-25-2025 03:16 PM

Do you want to efficiently and interactively explore data to uncover patterns and see relationships between variables? Are you looking for simple, informative graphical reports to start conversations on how to proceed with analyses related to a work or research challenge? Do you seek powerful graphics to summarize findings?

Graph Builder is a versatile way to drag & drop data to predefined zones to visually identify relationships between variables. You can quickly create, undo, redo, and experiment with plots that link to your data, until you find the one you want. Then, you can save and share your results with others. Graph Builder capabilities have increased over the years and can’t be covered in one session.  This this session will get you started with the basics.

In this session using (what kind of data or example) you see the basics of how to:

  • Understand the purposes of the main Graph Builder window areas.
  • Identify and use the table properties that are key to building graphs.
  • Use and preview results of dragging and dropping to zones.
  • Customize graph axis and table labels and graph titles.

This webinar covers: graphing different types of variables; working with one variable on a common axis; nesting axes and ordering the levels of a categorical variable; selecting different graph types; and customizing titles and axes.

Suggested Prerequisites

  • Basic experience using JMP data tables, distributions and basic analyses
