Overview and examples of "Custom Design" - including extension and mixture designs - (Japanese)

Published on ‎11-20-2024 05:04 PM by Community Manager Community Manager | Updated on ‎01-22-2025 12:12 AM

This on-demand seminar will teach you about "Custom Designs," a type of design unique to JMP. It is aimed at beginners in experimental design.

  • The video consists of three chapters (Chapter 1, Chapter 2, Chapter 3), and each chapter is divided into several sections.
  • Chapter 1 is an on-demand version of the recording of the second part of the "Overview of Experimental Design for Beginners and Examples Using JMP (3 Parts in Total)" held in October 2023, "Overview and Examples of Using Custom Designs in JMP (10/12)." (Some content has been omitted from the actual seminar.)
  • Chapter 2 covers "Augmented Designs" which are related to custom designs, and Chapter 3 covers "Mixture Designs" using custom designs. These two chapters were created for on-demand use.

*You can download the seminar handouts (PDF) on this page.

*This on-demand seminar uses JMP 17.2, the latest version at the time of video creation (October 2023).

Chapter 1:Overview and Examples of Custom Designs

JMP has a "Custom Design" design method that is recommended for beginners of experimental design. In this seminar, we will introduce the overview of this design and the series of steps to implement experimental design. We will interpret the results from the analysis report through examples of screening and optimal designs.

Chapter 2:Overview and use cases of "Expansion Plan"

Augmented Designs allow you to add experiments to an existing experimental design and can be used in the following ways:

              • Since the number of experiments already conducted was small and the effects of the factors could not be detected, additional experiments will be conducted.
              • Extending existing screening experiments and creating response surface models
              • Extending non-designed experiments to detect the effects of factors

                    ============================================

Chapter 3:Overview of "Mixture Design" and Examples of Use

A "mixture design" is a design in which the components of a mixture are factors. Since factors deal with the ratios of the mixture, there are the following restrictions:

                    • The possible range of factors is 0 to 1 (0% to 100%).
                    • The sum of all factor proportions is 1 (100%)

JMP allows you to carry out mixture designs using "Custom Designs," and you can create experimental designs that mix continuous, categorical, and mixture factors.
