JMP 8 now lets you save bubble plots and profilers in Flash format.
In addition, in JMP 9, histograms drawn in the Distribution platform can now be saved in Flash format.
To embed a Flash file (swf) created in JMP into PowerPoint 2007 or 2010, follow these steps:
Step 1: Add an empty Flash object to your PowerPoint slide
- Go to the slide to which you want to add a Flash application.
- Click the Developer tab at the top of the PowerPoint window.
- If the "Developer" tab is not displayed, click the Office button in the upper left of the window. Click the PowerPoint Options button, check "Show Developer tab in the Ribbon", and click the "OK" button.
- On the Developer tab, click More Controls.
- In the dialog, select "Shockwave Flash Object".
- When you click the "OK" button, the mouse cursor will change to a crosshair.
- Click and drag to draw a rectangle on the slide where you want the Flash file to appear.
The Flash object must be large enough to contain the entire SWF picture area.
Step 2: Embed the SWF file into the Flash object
The Flash object has been added to the slide, but it does not yet contain the SWF file that you saved with JMP.
In this step, you embed the SWF file and assign properties to it.
- Right-click on the Flash object and select "Properties". The Properties dialog will appear as shown below.
- In the "Movie" property, enter the full path to the SWF file.
For example, in the example below, enter "C:¥Documents and Settings¥temp¥Desktop¥bubble.swf".
- Set the "EmbedMovie" property to "True". This will import the SWF file into PowerPoint. The SWF will now be part of the PowerPoint file.
- Set the "Playing" property to "True".

The Flash version of your bubble plot or profiler is now ready to view - just run the presentation in PowerPoint to see it.
