[~JMP 17] After installing from a downloaded SAS Software Depot, when I start JMP I am prompted to apply a license

For most versions of JMP, when you install from a SAS Software Depot (a set of files that includes the JMP installer), the SID file (a .txt file that contains your license information) included in the software depot is automatically applied. However, if this is not done or if the license in the applied SID file has expired, you will need to apply the license information when you start JMP.

You can check the license expiration date by checking the value of the "Expires=" parameter in the SID file. Open the SID file in a text editor and check it. If you change the contents of the SID file at this time, it will not be applied correctly, so after checking, close the text editor without changing the contents.

If a window appears prompting you to apply a license, press the "Open License" button and select one of the following files:

  • If the SID file in the "sid_files" folder in your SAS Software Depot is unexpired, select this file.
  • If the SID file in the "sid_files" folder in your SAS Software Depot is out of date, obtain the latest SID file from your institution's JMP administrator, save it to a location of your choice, and select that file.
