JMP Wish List

We want to hear your ideas for improving JMP software.

  1. Search: Please search for an existing idea first before submitting a new idea.
  2. Submit: Post your new idea using the Suggest an Idea button. Please submit one actionable idea per post rather than a single post with multiple ideas.
  3. Kudo & Comment Kudo ideas you like, and comment to add to an idea.
  4. Subscribe: Follow the status of ideas you like. Refer to status definitions to understand where an idea is in its lifecycle. (You are automatically subscribed to ideas you've submitted or commented on.)

We consider several factors when looking for what ideas to add to JMP. This includes what will have the greatest benefit to our customers based on scope, needs and current resources. Product ideas help us decide what features to work on next. Additionally, we often look to ideas for inspiration on how to add value to developments already in our pipeline or enhancements to new or existing features.

Tsne / UMAP

With omics datasets becoming the norm, JMP needs a straightforward way to visualize high-dimensional data... Tsne and UMAP are becoming the norm for this purpose, PC analysis just won't cut it for publication.

The availability of Tsne and UMAP as native tools in JMP would make a world of difference for those of us who don't want/know how to work with R or Python!!!

Thank you for your attention

L.

Greetings all, a quick note to confirm that Tsne is under active development in JMP 17. JMP 17 will be available in the fall of 2022.

Very nice to have TSNE in version 17. UMAP is still a welcome addition if it could also be added to jmp or jmp pro. UMAP runs much faster, results in better defined clusters, and the between-cluster spacing is actually interpretable. TSNE spacing distances are somewhat arbitrary.  UMAP is widely useful, has applications for many areas outside of omics.  Thank you

Thanks @paulp for the comment - and JMP Development has heard your wish. UMAP is in development as a Multivariate Embedding method in the next release of JMP. JMP 17.1 will be available in a few months.
