Can we have JMP implement Silhouette plots in cluster analysis platform? Silhouette plots (Rousseeuw (1987)) are useful in many phases of cluster analysis: visualization, validation and choosing optimal number of clusters. The Silhouette value represents a measure of internal cohesion and external isolation and can be used in any of the clustering routines available in JMP cluster analysis: 1) hierarchical; 2) nonhierarchical – k-means cluster; and 3) latent class analysis once cluster assignment is made. With JMP's focus on visualization, it will be a useful addition to existing tools in cluster analysis.
