What inspired this wish list request? In pre-JMP 18 versions, selecting one or more column names in the Columns pane and pasting lines from the clipboard would rename the selected columns based on the pasted text — typically separated by tabs or line breaks. In JMP 19, this no longer works. Pasting appears to be ignored, and does not affect the selected columns. Example use case: I have a text file with 10 new variable names and a JMP table with 10 unnamed columns. I used to be able to copy the names from the text file, select the 10 column headers in JMP's Columns pane, and paste — instantly renaming them. This was a powerful and elegant workflow for organizing data.
What is the improvement you would like to see? Please restore the ability to paste names directly onto selected column names to rename them. This used to be a very helpful feature and enabled fast bulk renaming, saving time and avoiding human error when copying names individually.
Why is this idea important? It allows quick, accurate batch renaming of columns without repetitive manual entry, saving time and reducing user error.
