Capture manual JMP actions in the Action Recorder and write to the Log View.

What inspired this wish list request?

Currently not every interactive action is capture by the Action Recorder and written to the log View.  When a JMP script is written for repeated execution of a process, it is helpful to have every action required for the JMP process to have a JSL code.  When a JMP action is not scriptable since the actions were not recorded in the Action Recorder, instructions must be written within the JSL script process for the operator to perform a specific action manually.

What is the improvement you would like to see?

Capture manual JMP actions in the Action Recorder and write to the Log View.

Why is this idea important?

Save time for the operator since the operator does not need to perform manual actions.

related wish:
https://community.jmp.com/t5/JMP-Wish-List/Workflow-Builder-AddIns/idc-p/583109
with focus on non-recorded Add-Ins:

Options:

  • Provide an easy way for Add-In Programmers to make the add-ins "suitable" to be recorded via Workflow Builder.
  • add a functionality to workflow builder to record the actions of existing add-ins (without adjustment within the Add-In)
  • add the steps as Main Menu("Add-Ins: command") - i.e. not fully automatic, but with some user interaction
  • add a dummy step to the workflow idicating that Workflow Builder was not able to grab an action
(then the user can decide if this action was important and just in case try to re-do it using an official function)

Here is a community posit with a list of non-recorded user actions:
https://community.jmp.com/t5/Discussions/Actions-missed-by-Advanced-Log-Workflow-Builder/td-p/637581

at the moment: 15 entries.

A note was added if a topic got fixed by recent Jmp updates.

Feel free to add items if they are missing ...

I just noticed that for some actions which are not recorded a comment is added to the log - e.g. for Undo:
