What inspired this wish list request? We deal with datasets in the hundreds of millions of rows, which makes creating box plots from raw data impractical/impossible based on the compute power of the PC running JMP.
What is the improvement you would like to see? Allow users to select an option to 'USE SUMMARIZED DATA' when creating a box plot. The visualization would look identical to a regular box plot, but would only allow display of outlier points vs displaying all data points. This feature would then create the summarized table required to publish the visual to JMP Live.
Why is this idea important? The size of datasets in our industry has already outpaced the compute power of a standard PC. And even if this wasn't the case, using summarized data to make a boc-plot just make sense from a data-size perspective.
