JMP® 15 Google Sheets: sign in disabled for app or app is not secure

Using the JMP® 15 Google Sheets import results in one of the following messages:

  1. Sign in with Google temporarily disabled for this app.
  2. Couldn't sign you in. This browser or app may not be secure.

Due to recent security changes, importing Google Sheets via File > Internet Open > Google Sheets might present these messages. The messages are the result of changes in how Google grants applications access to Google accounts.

JMP is working with Google to resolve this behavior. In the interim, we suggest using the following workaround: within a Google sheet select File > Download, then import the downloaded Google sheet into JMP using File > Open.

Note: some users may not experience this behavior if they utilized this functionality before the Google security changes.
