A Power animation for the Test Mean option in the Distribution platform in JMP® does not calculate the Beta value correctly

When you analyze a continuous column with JMP in the Distribution platform, you can use the Test Mean option to test the sample mean against a hypothesized mean. In the resulting report, you can then display a Power animation. The dialog that is generated is highly interactive. However, the Beta value does not update with the changes made to the test parameters.

To correct this problem, exit out of JMP completely and replace the powerAnimate.jsl and powerAnimate.xlf files that are in the Resources/Builtins folder with the corresponding files attached to this note.

The Resource/Builtins folder is in these locations:

  • Windows (JMP): /C:/Program Files/SAS/JMP/16/Resources/Builtins/
  • Windows (JMP Pro): /C:/Program Files/SAS/JMPPRO/16/Resources/Builtins/
  • macOS: /Applications/JMP 16.app/Contents/Resources/Builtins/

It is highly recommended that you rename the original files (and do not delete them) before you copy the new files into the folder.
