Here's an excerpt from last year's panel discussion, where Greg Mattiussi begins a conversation about what it takes to be a great quality engineer:

 

“One thing that I look for is the ability to understand concepts that are relevant to the particular area that the candidate is in and the ability to use those concepts to create actionable ways forward.

 

“I think it’s important to not just have a set of tools that you’ve been exposed to and, therefore, would bring them up if you were in that situation. You have to understand why those tools and what they will get you. And that’s especially true for statistical methods.”
