Join the new Western Chapter of the JMP Scripters Club!

Do you want to improve your ability to use scripting to automate and enhance JMP? Have you thought about joining the JMP Scripters Club, but the early morning meetings (for U.S. western time zones) made it a non-starter? Read on to learn about the brand-new Western Chapter and more agreeable meeting times.

Since JMP 4 was released in 2000, JMP users have been able to automate and extend JMP's capabilities. From automating entire workflows and saving untold hours of manual data manipulation, to helping create simple scripts that enhance or personalize JMP, JSL has been a fun and useful tool. While the addition of the Workflow Builder in JMP 17 made automation easier for non-scripters, there's still a need for scripting expertise. Couple that with baking Python seamlessly into JMP 18, and there's an even greater need.

How to learn and master JSL

JMP has many free resources for learning JSL (including the excellent online JMP Scripting Course to various Mastering JMP sessions), so there's a lot of material to help users get started and become proficient. Often, however, true mastery comes from interacting with others, both experts and non-experts. The JMP Scripters Club has been that interactive resource for many users, with monthly meetings that allow for interaction, demonstration, and discussion of JSL topics.

Addressing the difficult-to-attend time slots

The only issue with the regular JMP Scripters Club meetings is that they happen in the early morning hours for those living in the central and western time zones of North America. It is often simply too early for many in these time zones to attend the meetings and be awake enough to find them useful. To that end, we're happy to introduce a Western Chapter of the JMP Scripters Club, with meetings at more reasonable hours:

  • 11 a.m. Pacific Time
  • Noon Mountain Time
  • 1 p.m. Central Time

Use this link to find out when the club meets in your time zone.

Inaugural meeting

Would you like to be part of creating this group? Do you want to provide direction and leadership? Or would you prefer just to attend and learn? Please attend with any input you care to share. The first meeting is Friday, April 5, 11 a.m.-noon Pacific Time. Please use this link to sign up. (Note: this link has all the upcoming Scripters Club sessions; Western Chapter sessions will be noted in Pacific Time to make it easier to distinguish.)

See you there!
