JMP Search: What You've Been Searching For

JMP has endless capabilities. How is one person supposed to keep up with them all? JMP 17 now has a search bar so you don’t have to. As demonstrated in this video by Evan McCorkle, you can search commands and features that JMP offers. Whether you want to find a new feature, or have forgotten where a command is, the search bar can help! Here are key takeaways from the video:

Syntax

To get to JMP Search, use the Help button at the top of the menu, and click Search JMP. Alternatively, you can open Search JMP by pressing Ctrl + Comma.

JMP Search skims queries

Since it uses the same technology found in JMP’s Text Explorer, if your word is almost the same as the command or feature you’re searching for, it is likely to show up. For example, if you are searching for “matches”, results such as “match” and “matching” will also appear. This feature is localized across all languages in which JMP is available!

Guided path + steps for locations

Not only does JMP Search show you where certain commands and features are within JMP, it also shows you how to get to the features. No matter your experience level, JMP Search will help you get comfortable and familiar with the interface and layout of the program.

Find options for your project

Sometimes, there are multiple ways to perform an analysis or command. JMP Search will show you different options that connect to your search, allowing you to choose the technique that works best for your project. (Tip: Look for entries with red triangles)!
