Attached are the JMP Journals used forthe two-part webinar hosted by American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE). The attached JMP journals contain all the data and links that were used during the presentation. If any questions have arisen since the presentation, please post them below.
AIchE members or guests can view the Day 1 presentation and the Day 2 presentation.
The journals works you through a case study on yield problems at Red Triangle Chair Company related to their innovative and popular outdoor chairs.
The company is learning how to use data to solve their business problems. They recently created a database to collect data for all production batches. Yields tend to be > 95%, except for "yield spikes" of poor yielding batches. The production teams believes the poor yields are related to increasing ambient temperature in the factory. Shift D is convinced that the viscosity changed, causing the yield problem.
Red Triangle Chair is in growth mode, will need to train new hires and wants to identify a believable, usable set of process parameters--with spec limits--that consistently produce high yields (>90%).
