15 Years and Counting: Explore the new JMP Discovery papers

Denver, October 2011. It was here, at the third JMP Discovery Summit, where I grabbed the opportunity to interview J. Stuart (Stu) Hunter, the renowned statistician, professor, and co-author of the seminal book Statistics for Experimenters: Design, Innovation. He waxed on about the negative impact of cramming too many presentations into conferences, resulting in too little time to explore, process, and even argue about the ideas presented by the speakers. Conversely, he lauded the JMP Discovery Summit for offering a smaller, diverse selection of papers on each topic, coupled with time for questions and dialogue. Especially valuable to him was time available over multiple days for relaxed informal discussion at meals, between sessions, and on the excursions organized by JMP.

Fifty-five Discovery Summits later, the format Hunter enjoyed persists. Discovery Summits are now held annually in five geographic regions: Americas, China, Europe, Japan, and Korea. In 2020, JMP added online Discovery Summits in all five regions, with corresponding online social hours and discussion forums. User attendance surpassed 4,000 for in-person conferences (and more than double that for online events). Nearly 2,000 papers and posters have been featured over the years.

The relevant, diverse selection of presentations that Hunter enjoyed are available to attendees and non-attendees alike after each conference, including the ones from this March’s Discovery Summit Europe, which were all posted recently. To find the topics of interest to you, simply search for presentations by JMP analytic capability, type of abstract/presentation (such as paper, plenary, or poster), geographic region, Discovery Summit year, or JMP skill level.
