What constant (boltzman or gas constant) is used in destructive degradation platform in First Order Kinetics Models?

Hi,

I am working with the destructive degradation platform to use the first order kinetic model type 4 with arrhenius rate relationships included. I'm working with biologic property that is degrading over time. We are interested in the possiblity of estimating shelf life at different temperatures and using accelerated data to predict shelf life at intended storage conditions.

I'd like to know whether the destructive degredation platform (in version 19) is using the boltzman constant or the universial gas constant in the acceleration factor. I believe the difference will only affect the value and units of the activation energy. I want to be able to note what the units of the activation energy will be in my report in case this model will be used again in the future.

Additionally, does anyone know if the use of the boltzman constant for a biologic attribute is a problem? Right now I'm thinking it would be OK, but that the activation energy units would be a bit unusual.

Thanks for any help!

Note that Boltzmann’s k = 8.617332410–5 eV/K is used in the Arrhenius transform X = 1 / kT where temperature is degrees Kelvin.
