Sizing graphs in dashboard, PLEASE HELP!

DivisiveBudgie5

Greetings,

Hoping someone can help me to get around some issues I'm having. When I build a dashboard of three figures and then try and export it to a pdf there seems to be no logical manner in which the graphs are sized on the export pdf. I'm writing for academic journals and am growing increasingly frustrated with the inability to seemingly manipulate the size of a histogram, bar chart, and pie chart on my pdf to make it appear how I want it.

I've tried in the dashboard window (expanding blue boxes); I've tried in the window in JMP after hitting "run script" and I'm not having much success. There are ways to do change the sizes, but it is just a nightmare as hitting different commands under different red triangle options (fit to window, for example) radically alters the entire pdf document. I've found webpages such as these https://www.jmp.com/support/help/en/18.1/index.shtml#page/jmp/scroll-and-scale-axes-in-graphs.shtml%...

Yet the Graph > Size/Scale command does not appear where this webpage tells me it should in my version of JMP. I'm using JMP Pro 18 and I am sure that there has to be a logical way to simply change the size of the three elements of the export pdf that does not require saving the document over and over and over again, opening it in pdf, and seeing if anything has changed.

Would be so, so, so amazing if there is someone out there who can be of some assistance - thank you!

Michael

Re: Sizing graphs in dashboard, PLEASE HELP!

Exporting JMP report into usable report, which isn't a web page, is in my opinion a nightmare and depends a lot on the platform(s) you are using. I have done this for few tools I have written but I haven't really bothered trying to create anything even close to generic. In those few tools I basically modified the size of graphs and the pdf settings JMP offers (if I remember correctly I mostly modified margins and scale) using JSL.

Edit: We do now have presets which could make this easier but I haven't tried them out for this use case.

Re: Sizing graphs in dashboard, PLEASE HELP!

If you need to have a dashboard view of multiple charts (instead of exporting and re-arranging individual charts), a custom report window is another option to consider. While this requires some JSL scripting, you will find it much more flexible. And after you do it once, you will have a template for the future.

It would help the community come up with some options if you can post an example data table and target dashboard (even if its just a screen shot of individual graphs arranged in the way you would like).
