Sides of a polygon-script

hey everyone,
I would appreciate your help.
trying to find a method to classify the sides of a polygon
I tried to use the Clustering method (Normal Mixtures)
but had a classifying error,
any other ideas?

The picture looks pretty cool. I'm not sure how to interpret it. What did you start with, how did you get the colors?
