Problem to transfer continuous data from excel to jmp

Dear community experts,

I try to import the dataset with continuous data (factor6, 7, 8, 9, 12, 13,15 and everything beyond fifteen are responses) from JMP to excel.

After export I cannot change the data type to continuous, its not available. I already changed everything to number formate and it didnt help.

Its irritating for me also, that all the responses are continuous, even they come from the same dataset. I am a bit frustrated here and every help is highly appreciated.

Thanks a lot

Re: Problem to transfer continuous data from excel to jmp

This was stuck in the spam filter over the weekend, don't know why.

The last row of the xlsx has non-numeric data in many columns. JMP preserves the data from the spread sheet as character data; you might use recode to fix it.

Other columns have units attached to the numbers; JMP keeps those as character data as well. If the units are consistent, you might use find/replace to remove them.

Once the character data is cleaned up, the column can be converted from character to numeric.

Other people here have much more experience with data cleaning and might have better suggestions.
