How do I reorder the data categories in the bars to match the legend?

I want the data displayed to be in numerical order with <0.5 at the bottom. I found an old post about this but it's outdated so the feature isn't available anymore.

Set the Value Order column property for the Particle Size column.

Right click on the column header for Particle Size and select

     Column Property=>Value Order

Change the order of the values by selecting each and using the up and down arrows, move the value to the place in the order you want it to be.

Re: How do I reorder the data categories in the bars to match the legend?

Won't this affect the legend as well?

I don't know who decided to use in bar chart and legend the opposite order !?!?

bar chart: from the bottom
legends: from the top
everything fine - till you generate a bar chart plot with a legend ...

For this special case here should be a reverse button to adjust the chart and the legend ...

But unfortunately, there is no "reverse order" function. Just imagine that you have 20 entries - or 100!

Re: How do I reorder the data categories in the bars to match the legend?

The decision follows the convention of presenting values in ascending order. In a list, the lowest value appears first, and the highest value appears last. The lowest values appear to the left of a horizontal scale or the bottom of a vertical scale. The highest value appears to the right of a horizontal scale or the top of a vertical scale.

You can force JMP to workaround the reverse ordering by adding value order to your overlay column, duplicating overlay column, setting it to have reversed value order and using that as color (or do it by reordering like Jim suggested)

With the double column

Hm, I have yet to decide whether this illustrates how flexible JMP is - or how much effort it takes to get there.
reminds me a bit of the 25 steps to get the One Way ANOVA Figure for Scientists in JMP.

I bet: If it's more than 2 entries in the legend, most users will decide that the "wrong" order is not sooo bad, save the time and not correct it : )

On the other hand: the more entries, the more it will help the audience if the order fits to the plot.

A reverse order button in the legend menu could provide an elegant solution.

There are many places in JMP where a new button, function, or setting could save users a lot of work:

oh, and for "reverse order", there is a specific wish: Reverse order button in legend settings
Thumbs up from my side.

Interesting:

Half of the Drop Boxes in Graph Builder have a "order by" menu: Axes, X/Y group, wrap, Page ...

the other half doesn't have this option:
