How do I open excel files with AIP label(Azure information protection)

Hello all,

Does someone know any tricks to open MS excel files with AIP label?? Due to our company policy change, all of our excel files have AIP label. Our scripts worked properly before the change, but after the change it does not and pop-up error message during file-opening procedure. We are unable to remove AIP label from the excel files, so I would like to fix this issue....

Thank you for your suppports!

Re: How do I open excel files with AIP label(Azure information protection)

Hi @WakuWakuGoku,

Is there any chance of sharing an example file? I can see that AIP has been retired and replaced with inbuilt Microsoft protection - what happens when you try to open an excel file in JMP as normal? (i.e. File > Open > [Excel File]). Is this only occurring with the scripts when trying to open the files? Does the JMP-add in in the excel file still work if you drag/select areas to import directly?

Thanks,

Ben

Re: How do I open excel files with AIP label(Azure information protection)

Thank you Ben for the comment.

I think my JMP is simply unable to open any excel files with AIP label. I just created an  'empty' excel file, and tried to open ( File > Open > [Excel File]), then the following message is pop-ed up.

JMP Alert

There was an error opening the file.

Then about the JMP-add in in the excel, actually I had never tried that add-in, but I think it still works.
What I did:

Open simple excel file with the AIP label, which I cannot open through JMP software.

Copy some area

Press "data table" add-in

Then, I can see a new jmp window showing the same data as I copied.

So, it seems that file opening itself is the problem??

Thank you very much for your supports.

Hi @WakuWakuGoku ,

Unfortunately I can't give an exact answer on that, I would recommend you send the details of this issue over to support@jmp.com to see if they can log it.

Thanks,

Ben

Re: How do I open excel files with AIP label(Azure information protection)

Hello,

AIP protection is meant to protect the files and JMP cannot work around that.  To open the Excel files, you must remove the protections on the file, just as you would if you did not have Read access in the Windows or Mac operating system.
