Graph Builder Axis Box Background Colors Based on Value

For timeline/Gantt Chart visualization purposes, I would like to set different background colors on the Y-axis Axis Box based on the value inside.  For example, for "Category", I would like the "A" axis box to be one color, "B" to be another color, etc... I'm wondering if there is a Scripting option that could realize this.   In "Properties", there appears to be only one Background Color available to be set across all values in the axis box.

I checked the Scripting Index for the messages that can be sent to an Axis Box and there does not appear to be any message to change the background color

I had the same idea some years ago : @ background color for nominal axis values

-> easy to implement, nice improvement for Graph Builder.

That would be for the background of inside of the graph itself (see picture in original message).  I am interested in coloring the AxisBox by different values.. I can color the entire Axis Box to be one color from Properties, but not by each individual value it seems.
