Dear, how to input repetition and replicate simulataneously?

Might be a very silly question,

anyway my situation is,

I have one population from which I sampled 5

I had measured respective value of 5 sample, but with 3 repetiton,

Schematic:

(from population Alphabet, I got A~E)

Which results in, 15 reporting values as follows.

A1, A2, A3

B1, B2, B3

C1, C2, C3

D1, D2, D3

E1, E2, E3

As you well know, three A value will be almost same (if little measurement variance)

however, By comparing variance between alphabet, I can find intra population variance.

intra-population variance & measurement variance both are my interest.

How can I input these 15 values in JMP table, allowing JMP can distinguish replicate is 5 and repetition is 3.

Even more, is there any function in JMP that represents the variance(repetition), variance(intra population) and variance(overall)

Please advice me.

Here is how I would set up the data table in JMP.

Re: Dear, how to input repetition and replicate simulataneously?

Hi @MikeKim,

It seems you're trying to do a variability analysis.
If so, you can create your table by having a categorical column for sample ID (A, B, C, D and E) and a numerical nominal column for repetition (1, 2 and 3). Then you add your response(s) for each of the 15 combinations/rows.

To analyze the variance, go to "Analyze", "Quality and Process", "Measurement System Analysis" and you'll enter your response as the "Response", and your column sample ID as "Part, Sample ID" (Model type "Crossed").
You'll end up with two graph, average chart and range chart, and by clicking on the red triangle next to "Measurement System Analysis for ...", click on "Variance Components" (or "EMP Gauge R&R Results").

You'll find the variance repartition between within variation (repetition) and batch variation, with the total calculated as well.
See the JMP file attached as an example with the script of the analysis

I hope it will help you,

Victor
