How Important is the Define Stage?

What is most important in the define stage of the statistical design and analysis of an experiment? Are there examples of experiments that have gone badly because something important was missed in the define stage?

Hi @Phil_Kay

I think the define phase can be an essential part of the statistical design and analysis of experiments! A goal must be defined upfront to know if you have succeeded with the experimentation. In addition, defining a common goal for a team that everyone can agree upon contributes to a more effective and productive teamwork experience.
