Earth Day is April 22, and JMP is encouraging everyone to take a few hours over the coming week to go and spend some time loving on our home planet. With so many ways to celebrate Earth Day, we’ve only compiled a few ideas here to inspire you.
- Show your community, neighborhood, or local park some love by picking up trash and plastic. Keep a special eye out for any plastics and other recyclables!
- Swap out some of your household products with more sustainable options. Ever heard of the “If You Care” product line? Everything’s biodegradable and does not use chemicals or plastic. The company’s motto: “We care simply because it’s the right thing to do!” Check out Favorite Earth-friendly products or services in this space for more eco-friendly brands.
- Beautify your yard by planting a tree or some native plants. Planting a tree is a relatively simple act that benefits the environment for years to come. If planting trees or wildflowers, be sure to look up what is native to your area! Native plants are restorative to local ecosystems and help local animals and pollinators.
- Visit a local Farmer’s Market! Support a local farmer by eating locally grown food! It’s so much better for the environment.
- Do you have a bag of clothes and used items in your house just waiting to be donated? Instead of trashing these things, consider donating them to a local thrift store or shelter. This keeps items out of our landfills – remember, your trash is another’s treasure!
- From @katie_stone, check out this helpful article about growing your own food at home. Even in small spaces, it’s totally doable.
Celebrating Earth Day is just one way that JMP participates in the Data for Green Initiative, and you can, too!
