Submit your abstract to the call for content for Discovery Summit Americas by April 23. Selected abstracts will be presented at Discovery Summit, Oct. 21- 24.
Discovery is online this week, April 16 and 18. Join us for these exciting interactive sessions.

Practice JMP using these webinar videos and resources. We hold live Mastering JMP Zoom webinars with Q&A most Fridays at 2 pm US Eastern Time. See the list and register. Local-language live Zoom webinars occur in the UK, Western Europe and Asia. See your country jmp.com/mastering site.

Fitting Curves to Non-Linear Data

See how to:

  • Understand curve terminologyy
    • Linear Regression Model
    • Curvilinear Regression Model
    • Non-linear model
  • Choose specialized JMP Models
    • Fit Curve Capability/Platform - Easy dialog with many useful models
    • Non-Linear Capability/Platform - All the knobs for tuning convergence to create more and more complex models than Fit Curve
    • Column Formula Plus Non-Linear Capability/Platform – Create custom models and then use Nonlinear platform to solve parameters
  • Build model using Fit Curve, where the curve shape is the response.
    • Fit a model to the time course data
    • Then use parameters for responses in the DOE model
  • Build model using Non-Linear specialized model
  • Build model using formula and Non-Linear specialized model combination

Questions answered by Byron @Byron_JMP  and Jerry @JerryFish  during the session.

Q: Is there a way to have a custom formula in the model library?

A: Yes, if you open Analyze/Specialized Models/Nonlinear, then click on Model Library, and you can enter your own formula.

Q: Can you get other metrics of model performance under nonlinear? I saw RSME and maybe one other.

A: Yes, see Non-Linear Platform options.

Q: Can add a callout box with the data in the box to each plot?

A: In Graph Builder you can use the Hover Label drill-down.

A: Is the large sample data available?

Q: Yes. Enzyme Modifier data is available.

Q: You mentioned Functional DOE for analyzing data that doesn’t have a good model.  Is that available?

A: Wavelets DOE is available in JMP Pro 17.
