This guide provides instructions on saving publication-quality graphics on the Mac version of JMP. Saving Images
- From any JMP output window, click the selection tool (
) in the toolbar or use the keyboard shortcut (S).
- Click on the content you’d like to copy – selected content is highlighted. Click near the edge of the report to select all content. To extend a selection, hold the shift key.
- Press Ctrl and Select File > Save Selection As. (The macOS Save window will appear).
- The default file format is .png. Manually change the file extension to save in another format (e.g., vector format
.svg, or .eps). Save to desired location.
For printed media (presentations, journals, etc.) a vector image, such as .svg (scalable vector graphic) is recommended. This format preserves transparency, can be edited in image-editing software, and can be scaled or resized without losing clarity.
Tip: Applications such as Mac’s Preview and Adobe Photoshop provide tools to change properties of an image such as the resolution and image quality.
Editing Image Elements within Power Point
- Save the image in step 4 above as a scalable vector graphic (.svg).
- After placing image in document (via. Drag-and-drop or Insert > Picture > Picture from File), right-click on the image and select Covert to Shape. All the elements of the graphic can now be individually selected, edited, and formatted as desired.
