Status Tab in Structural Equation Models (SEM)

A unique feature of the SEM capability introduced in JMP Pro 17 is the Status Tab, which is packed with information about your model and data. The Status Tab gives feedback during model specification to alert users to potential model issues before running the model.

Whenever there is a modification to the model, an algorithm runs behind the scenes to help users find potential issues with their models prior to estimation. The status tab alerts you to this. It alerts you when:

  • You accidentally specified too many parameter estimates
  • There are too many estimates given the sample size in your data
  • A latent variable is specified, but its scale isn't set, thus making the model not estimable
  • There is a problem wth the data used to launch the analysis

Laura Castro-Schilo, James Koepfler & Christopher Gotwalt received a patent for the SEM Graphical Interactive Model Specification Guidelines for SEM Designs, which they implemented in JMP Pro using the Status Tab.
