Video using JMP 19 was posted in March 2026. Q&A is included at the end.
Often, the raw data you use is not set up for analysis and must be arranged and shaped for easy, proper graphing and analysis. The source can also be in different tables that must be joined into a master table to make full use of the information. Additionally, sometimes a summary of the data is needed or subsetting is required. JMP provides rich capabilities to reshape your data for optimal analysis.
See how to:
- Join data tables, when columns you need are spread across more than one table.
- Stack data, when some of the categories for analysis are in many columns with many names.
- Recode data values, when you need to handle columns will permutations of categorical values often because the data was manually entered or came from different source systems.
- Explore and impute missing data, when missing data may interfere with correct analyses and interpretations.
- Sorting data, when you want data organized in a specific way or sorted and presented in a particular way in all graphs.
- Annotate rows and columns.
- Subset and filter, when you want to explore a subset of data interactively or dynamically present a filtered view.
This webinar covers: data table grid, rows, columns, and script panels.
Q: What is a locked table?
A: JMP Tech Support @PatrickGiuliano Patrick Giuliano responded: A table can be locked because the user locks it as shown below. It could be locked for other reasons. A table can also be "Locked File" because you are trying to edit a file saved in a read-only file directory location. In the video, the presenter was working from JMP sample data files and that installation directory is typically set to read-only, so he had to save as another filename.
