Overview and use cases of "Definitive Screening Designs (DSD)" (Japanese)
The experimental design method " Definitive Screening Design (DSD) " implemented in JMP has the advantage that many factors can be screened with a small number of experiments and that quadratic effects can be identified at the screening stage. In recent years, it has been used in a variety of industries.
In this seminar, we will explain the overview and features of this "definitive screening plan" and demonstrate screening of important factors using an example.
- The video consists of three chapters (Chapter 1, Chapter 2, and Chapter 3), and Chapter 2 and Chapter 3 are divided into two sections.
- Chapter 1: Introduction
- Chapter 2: What is a screening design?
- Section 1: Experimental points and orthogonal designs for screening designs (14 minutes 26 seconds)
- Section 2: Confounding (13 minutes 32 seconds)
- Chapter 3: Overview of Definitive Screening Designs and Examples of Their Use
- Section 1: Overview and Features (16 minutes 25 seconds)
- Section 2: Use cases and how to use it with other screening plans (11 minutes 45 seconds)

*This on-demand seminar uses JMP 18.0.1, the latest version at the time of video creation (June 2024).
Chapter 1:Introduction
From the title of the paper that proposed the definitive screening design, we will give an overview of what this design can do, and then demonstrate how to use the definitive screening design using examples from the JMP manual. (14 minutes 23 seconds)

Chapter 2:What is a Screening Design?
To understand definitive screening designs, we first explain what screening designs are and then discuss two important topics: orthogonal designs and confounding .

Chapter 3:Overview of Definitive Screening Designs and Examples of Their Use
- Building on the concepts of orthogonal designs and confounding discussed in the previous chapter, we will explain the advantages of definitive screening compared to fractional factorial designs.
- We will introduce an example of screening many factors (two-level categorical factors and continuous factors).
- We explain the precautions to take when using definitive screening designs.
