What inspired this wish list request?
The Diagram function in the analyze / Quality and process menu is very helpful.
One can generate fishbone, hierarchical and nested diagrams.
Digging up Bones: Fisbone Diagrams
On the other hand, compared with the Graph Builder functionality in JMP18, it feels "outdated":
Fishbone/Hierarchical Graph via Graph Builder?
- no color dropzone [colors have to be applied manually, step by step for each entry]
- no Overlay dropzone - which could be used to control font settings
- no | X /Y Group Dropzones to structure the plot
the only option is a [by] dropzone - which removes the chance to save a script for the whole graph
The largest problem:
After adjusted fonts and color settings, the plot is not saved as a platform script. Instead, the script generates the plot as it is.
After adding new rows to the data table, the plot has to be generated from scratch.
What is the improvement you would like to see?
Please add a fishbone/hierarchical mode to GraphBuilder - or vie / versa: add GraphBuilder Powers to the diagram Platform.
- use a column to control colors
- use a column to control Font settings
- save a creation script that works after a table update (the current saved script is static)
- add X/Y Group Wrap / Page Functionality
Why is this idea important?
important - hm?
I guess that just a few JMP users use this plot mode - and they use it in a very simplified mode - or: they accept the current restrictions. So, I didn't tick
☐ could help many users!
On the other hand: the Diagram Platform is VERY helpful.
Maybe with a more user friendly implementation, more users will use it ...
