Filter Views - copy and paste settings

☐ cool new feature
☑ could help many users!

☐ removes  a bug

☐ nice to have

☐ nobody needs it

What inspired this wish list request?

In JMP there are 3 ways to filter data:

1) global data filter

2) filter views (new in JMP19)

3) local data filters in reports

Cool: one can copy a data filter and paste it somewhere else:

Unfortunately, copy/paste just works within option #3.
E.g. it is not possible to create a Filter view from a local data filter.
And it is not possible to transfer a filter view to a specific report, by pasting it as a local data filter.

What is the improvement you would like to see?

Allow Copy & Paste between filter views and Local Data Filters.

Why is this idea important?

Application cases like:
- within a Graph builder Report, a user created an interesting Data filter. Now, they want to use this data filter for all plots. e.g. via a Filter view.

- A user used a filter view to restrict the data. This is OK for the current plot, but another plot must use the whole data. How to keep the current graph lie it is - and at the same allow the new graph to use the whole data?

Such limitations hurt. Please remove the pain.
