Excel formula plugin

MS Excel has a very intuitive and easy to use formula editor, where you can click on any cell in the table and give it a value of "=" + function. Thus, it is very easy to calculate for instance MEAN or STDEV of a selection of columns (i.e., A1:A10) or rows (i.e., A1:J1).

Would something like that be possible to implement in JMP? Or maybe it is already possible, but I don't know about.

Hi @ruskicar ,

Have you seen how easily you can create a formula column by right-clicking on column headers?

You can also set a column to "Group By" so that you can get summary statistics for one column grouped by categories in another column.

I would also refer you JMP is Not a Spreadsheet. There are really good reasons for why JMP works on column-wise basis and not cell-wise. If you need spreadsheet functionality, spreadsheet software will be a better solution.

I hope that is helpful.

Thanks for some useful links, I read through them quickly and it kind of opened my eyes.
