What inspired this wish list request? Need for a quick visual queue of validity of data in a cell based on data in another column.
What is the improvement you would like to see? Pretty simple change to the "Column Properties-- Value Color" under Column info. Current functionality lets the user color cells based on the value in the cell which is a nice feature. A very nice, "simple" addition to this feature would be to allow the user to color the cell based on the value from a different column. For example I have a data quality check saying pass/fail in one column but then I want to flag the cell by making the Cell red in the current numeric column when the data quality is "fail" in the other column.
Why is this idea important? Simple visual queue can provide a quick interpretation of data in the table before even plotting it. Of course the entire row can be colored fairly easily through Row WHERE selection, but when there are multiple quality checks for different columns it make sense to be able to color individual cells in the table and not the entire row.
