Change Modeling Types

When changing the modeling type of a column, you can choose from these options:

  • Continuous - For numeric data
  • Nominal or Ordinal - For categorical data
  • None - No modeling type (for data that is not included in the analysis)
  • Multiple Response - For cells in a column that contain more than one response value, often separated by commas
  • Unstructured Text - For data with free text
  • Vector - For Expression columns where each data cell is a vector of numbers

Note: Modeling types that are not appropriate for the column are not available.

To change the modeling type to Continuous, Nominal, Ordinal, or None:

  1. Open the data table.
  2. In the Columns panel, right-click the modeling type icon for the column that you want to change and select the new modeling type.

To change the modeling type to Multiple Response, Unstructured Text, or Vector:

  1. Open the data table.
  2. Right-click on the column whose modeling type you want to change, and select Column Info.
  3. Next to Modeling Type, select the new modeling type.
