Fisher's exact or Chi Square?

Hello
I want to know which is more accurate and should be used to invistigate the association between two categorical variables: Fisher's exact or Chi Square? The sample size is more than 300 and the table is 3*3. The good news is that: fisher's exact test is now available for this type of tables (more than2&2) in JMP pro 18

Re: Fisher's exact or Chi Square?

This is taken from the JMP LearnBot AI

JMP does not perform Fisher's Exact Test for tables larger than 2x2. For a 3x3 table, you would typically use a chi-square test for independence or homogeneity. In JMP, you can analyze a 3x3 table using the Contingency Table Analysis feature.

JEN Correction:  This is an erroneous response. JMP Pro handles Fisher's Exact Test for tables larger than 2x2

Re: Fisher's exact or Chi Square?

Thanks for your reply. I would like to update you with the latest developments in JMP pro 18. It includes fisher's exact test for 3*3 tables. You can find this new option in the list of the red triangle after performing fit y by x. That's why I am asking if I can use it instead of Chi Square if it is more accurate, since it is available now

Re: Fisher's exact or Chi Square?

I stand corrected. I checked back several releases and sure enough, the Fisher's Exact Test for tables beyond 2x2 has been available in JMP Pro.
