File I/O error writing Preferences - Unable to write out file buffer

Hi JMP Team,

I saw the same exact issue posed in a separate discussion.

However, there were no replies to it.

I attached an image of the error i'm having.

I looked through JMP >> File >> Preference.

I don't see anything related to File I/O.

I'm sure this is not an issue with JMP, but with the machine. But I was wondering if the JMP team/community can help point me in the right direction?

I do not remember seeing that issue. My guess would be that for whatever reason the user doesn't have write access to the preference location. Have you for example changed Preferences file directory?

Usually they are stored to C:\Users\<user name>\AppData\Roaming\JMP\JMP\18\ ( Using JMP > JMP Preferences > Overview of JMP Preferences ).

If you do not get answer from community, I would suggest you contact JMP Support (support@jmp.com). If you get a solution from support, please post it back to community.

@AdditiveLamb108  Also, disk full maybe. Or another copy of JMP is holding the file open (crash during startup or shutdown?); a reboot should clear that up. The support tab is at the top of this page if the reboot does not help.

And yes, please post whatever answer you get!
