Append PowerPoint presentation with template

I created a PPT with an existing template in JSL, and then tried to append additional slides to it using that same template, but get an error. Apparently cannot use both append AND template options in the save presentation call? Seems pretty arbitrary and inconvenient as these two options go hand in hand for many applications. Is there no workaround for this? I'm using JMP 14.3. thanks in advance!

If I would have to guess, you use template when you first time create a pptx with JMP and then you just append more to the same pptx and same template will be applied to it.
