Adding designated error bars to bar chart.

I am using JMP PRO17 and have a bar chart showing yearly mean values for 20+ years (WCR/sweep). Each yearly mean has an associated ±standard error value  (SEM-WCR/sweep) which is in the data file in a separate column from the yearly mean values.

I would like to add the standard error values to each bar from the standard error column.

How do I get JMP PRO17 to use the values in the standard error column to generate error bars in my bar chart?

Re: Adding designated error bars to bar chart.

Try using Interval on the right side. If necessary you can also change to Custom Interval from the error interval like you currently have

Re: Adding designated error bars to bar chart.

Thank you!  I happened to arrive at the solution on my own. Your post greeted me as I fixed the graph.

The struggle was worth it!

Thanks jthi

Re: Adding designated error bars to bar chart.

I found the very simple answer!

After making the bar chart, select "Custom Interval" for the error interval.

Then highlight the column with the SEM values and drag it into the "interval" box at the right of the graphing frame.

The SEM values will appear as ± SEM error atop the bars.
